Nuapada:A jawan of the Special Operation Group (SOG) was critically injured during an exchange of fire with Maoists inside Sunabeda sanctuary in Odisha’s Nuapada district on Monday.
As per preliminary information, the gunfight took place when SOG personnel were conducting a combing operation in the sanctuary and the ultras opened fire.
Sources said the encounter took place in Sibnarayanpur area of the sanctuary near the border with Chhattisgarh.
The injured SOG personnel was sent to a private hospital in Raipur for treatment and his condition was stated to be critical.
The gunfight between the security personnel and the red rebels was reported to be still continuing. Further details are awaited.
