Cuttack: Somalika Dash, former fiancee of Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das, on Tuesday filed evidence in the office of district sub-registrar (DSR), Cuttack in support of her objection to the latter’s application for marriage with Pratyusha Nanda.
Speaking to media persons near DSR office, Somalika said she filed the documentary proof pertaining to her claim that Pratyusha was married and had divorced from her husband. “I have also submitted the evidence showing that Nijay was a witness in her marriage. The district sub-registrar has sought the original marriage certificate of Pratyusha,” she said.
The DSR has fixed November 30 as next date of hearing of the case, she added.
Somalika had appeared in the DSR office on November 7 in connection with her complaint against application of Bijay for registration of marriage with Pratyusha. The district sub-registrar had on November 3 issued notice to three persons to appear before it after hearing the objection filed by Somalika on October 7 to the application.
In her written complaint, Somalika cited past instances of betrayal and sexual harassment. As the MLA did not turn up before the DSR, the latter had extended the hearing to November 21.
It may be noted that Somalika had filed an FIR against the BJD legislator in Jagatsinghpur police station on October 7, demanding justice in light of the pending case against him. “I am seeking justice for the harassment I endured. Despite the registration of two cases earlier, Das has not been summoned by the police nor called in for questioning,” she had alleged.
She had made a series of allegations, including rape, against the MLA after he did not turn up for their wedding at the sub-registrar office in Jagatsinghpur on June 17, 2022.
