Son Of Former Odisha Cop Arrested For Drunk Driving In Cuttack

Cuttack: Police on Monday arrested the son of a retired Additional Superintendent of Police in connection with an accident on the Ring Road here the previous night.

The accused, identified as Ankit Parida, allegedly rammed his car into an autorickshaw in an inebriated state. Seven persons, including two children, travelling in the three-wheeler were injured in the accident. Six among them are residents of Jagatpur Peer Bazaar area. While they are out of danger, the condition of the autorickshaw driver is stated to be critical.

Following the accident, some locals caught hold of him and handed him over to Mangalabag Police. Cigarettes and alcohol bottles were found in the car, police sources said.

After interrogation, Ankit was arrested on charges of drunken driving and causing injury. Police, however, released the girl, who was with him in the car, the sources added.
