Sonali Phogat Case: Centre Approves CBI Probe

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has approved a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the Sonali Phogat murder case, reported India Today.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant earlier wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah stating that the central agency take over the probe.

Sonali died in Goa under mysterious circumstances in Goa, having been brought dead to St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna on August 23 from her hotel.

Doctors initially said it appeared her death was caused by cardiac arrest. The autopsy report, however, revealed “multiple blunt force injuries” on her body.

Family members of Sonali, who hails from Haryana, called on Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday and asked for a CBI probe as they were not satisfied with the way Goa Police was handling the case.
