New Delhi: Home-grown tractor maker Sonalika has launched the country’s first electric tractor called Tiger Electric. It is field-ready and is made at the company’s factory in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
Priced at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), it has 25 per cent lesser running costs than diesel. It has an IP67 rated 25.5kWh battery that takes 10 hours to recharge at a regular home outlet. It can be fast-charged in 4 hours.
The tractor can run for 8 hours pulling a 2 tonne trolley.
Another advantage of using electric motor in a tractor is the high peak torque at zero RPM. Its top speed is 24.93 kmph.
