New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi was on Monday discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment for the last eight days.
“Congress president Smt Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital this evening and advised rest at home,” Congress’ communications in-charge Jairam Ramesh tweeted in English and Hindi.
Sonia, admitted on June 12, was suffering from a lower respiratory infection and post COVID-19 symptoms.
All eyes will now be on Sonia, who has been summoned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) on June 23 for questioning on an alleged money-laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper.
Sonia had been asked to depose before ED officials on June 8, but she contracted COVID-19.
Her son Rahul Gandhi was on Monday interrogated by ED for the fourth time. He was allowed a break of two days on request as he wanted to visit Sonia in hospital.
The ED might question both son and mother together after individual sessions.
Congress leaders continued to protest against the Gandhis’ ED interrogation, staging a Satyagraha at Jantar Mantar. They also met President Ram Nath Kovind to complain about alleged mistreatment of MPs by the police during their protest against ED’s questioning of Rahul as well as the Agnipath recruitment scheme.
