Sonia To Remain Congress President; Know What Happened In CWC Meet

New Delhi: The Congress Working Committee — the party’s top decision-making body — that met on Sunday to take a call on the future course of action, decided to continue with Sonia Gandhi as the president at least till the next election due in August-September.

The CWC also decided that a ‘Chintan Shivir’ or brainstorming session will be conducted after the Parliament session ends on April 8.

According to sources, the meeting witnessed the all-too-familiar scenes of interim president Sonia Gandhi suggesting that she and her children were prepared to do anything – read, stepping aside — if the party so wishes.

In reply, the leaders urged her to continue and reaffirmed their faith in her leadership. They requested her to “lead from the front, address organisational weaknesses, and effect necessary and comprehensive organisational changes in order to take on the political challenges.”
