Bhubaneswar: Odia model-turned-actress Sonika Roy is leaving to chance as she meticulous prepares for Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 to be held at Philippines in November.
The international beauty pageant title was last won by Bollywood diva Dia Mirza in 2000.
“I am excited as well as nervous as I would be representing my country. I have put myself on diet and attending gym and dance classes to stay in perfect shape,” said the Miss Asia Pacific International India winner.
Boiled vegetable, chicken, fruits and salad make up for her diet with strict no to oily and fried food.
To compete with participants from across the globe, she is focusing on all-round personality development for which she has joined group discussion classes. “Beauty pageants are not just about how you look, a lot depend on the confidence with which one speaks. Presence of mind also counts,” she said.
While her first break in movie as the female lead was ‘Rangeela Baba’ in Odia, Sonika is also working in a Telugu film ‘Seeta Kalyanam’.
“I am comfortable working in films as well as modelling, as both are related to glamour world. But currently I am focusing on the beauty pageant,” she said.
Sonika wants to wear a dress designed by designer from Odisha for the national round of the event.
While she regularly travels to Mumbai for photo shoots or grooming workshop by her trainer Alesia Raut and Anjali Raut, Bhubaneswar is where her heart is.
