Puri: Here is some good news coming from the Srimandir in Odisha’s Puri. Very soon, the devotees can partake mahaprasad at Ananda Bazar on the temple’s premises.
After relaxing the COVID-19 norms and allowing entry of devotees to the temple, the temple administration has proposed to rehabilitate shop owners selling mahaprasad ‘abadha’ and dry bhog on the temple’s premises.
At a meeting of Srimandir administration headed by Collector Samarth Verma, with the Suara and Mahasuara Nijog here on Sunday, proposals were made to open the shops selling mahaprasad – abadha as well as dry bhog.
It has also been proposed to continue the practice of fixing rate charts on the shop doors in the Ananda Bazaar to ensure uniform prices and quality of the bhog.
The shops are closed for more than 10 months, ever the temple was shut for devotees in the wake of restrictions imposed for COVID-19. It had hit the economic backbone of a large section of the Lord’s sevayats who are engaged in preparation, sale of bhog and earthen ware in which the bhog is sold.
The reopening of shops – dry bhog, diyas and even flowers, will help in restoring their lives.
However, a final decision will be taken at the meeting of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and Chhatisa Nijog.
