Bhubaneswar: After Puri, ‘drink from tap’ facility is soon coming to Odisha’s capital.
Under the initiative, residents of Bhubaneswar will be supplied tap water fit for drinking and cooking round the clock. There will be no need for additional filtration.
The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) will spend Rs 20 crore under the Smart City Mission for this.
In the first phase, the ‘drink from tap’ facility will be available in Saheed Nagar, Satya Nagar, Kharvela Nagar, Bapuji Nagar and Ashok Nagar.
The initiative will do away with the need for RO-based water filters and allow 100 per cent metering of domestic water connections, which will help cut down non-revenue water.
Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) will implement the project.
Last year, the facility was launched in Puri.
