Sorcery Suspicion: Elderly Couple Burnt Alive In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: Sorcery suspicion saw an elderly couple being burnt to death in Kalinganagar area of Jajpur district in Odisha on Sunday. It is learnt some locals at Nimaplli village were behind the incident.

According to information received, some villagers suspected that the two were practising sorcery. They seized the opportunity to set the house on fire when both were sleeping last night. They were charred to death.

Police officials, on being informed, rushed to the spot to initiate investigation on the matter. “Probe is underway. The circumstances under which the two died are being ascertained. We are also looking into the allegation of the couple being killed over sorcery suspicion,” Superintendent of Police, CS Meena said.

According to Meena, a case has been registered at the Kalinganagar police station.
