Bhubaneswar: Soumendra Mohan Patnaik, Professor of Anthropology in Delhi University, has been appointed the new vice-chancellor (VC) of Utkal University. A notification regarding his appointment was released by the Governor’s office on Monday.
Born on January 23, 1963, Patnaik is currently the president of Indian Anthropological Association. He has been teaching Social Anthropology for the last 24 years.
He will take charge from Dr Ashok Das.
Established in 1943, Utkal University is the largest affiliating varsity in the country with 267 general colleges, 15 law colleges, six medical and pharmacy colleges.
