Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday directed the DCP, Bhubaneswar to take action in the case of the death of aspiring model Soumya Ranjan Panigrahi in the capital city within three weeks.
The court issued the order after hearing a petition filed by Soumya’s sister. She alleged in the petition that the police have not taken any step on her complaint filed at Infocity police station and with the DCP and sought intervention of the court.
Soumya was found hanging at his residence in Nandan Vihar in the city on January 30. A handwritten note of Soumya, accusing his girlfriend of having relationship with another person for the past several months, was found from his room.
Later, Soumya’s sister had told the media that her brother killed himself as he felt frustrated by his girlfriend’s affair with another man. The girl betrayed her brother in in order to have relationship with a rich man, she alleged.
Soumya, who was pursuing a modelling career in Mumbai, had returned to Bhubaneswar after lockdown due to COVID pandemic and started a business. He met his girlfriend at a gym in the city and had decided to marry her.
