Mumbai: The makers of ‘Awarapan 2’ have unveiled the film’s first song, ‘Ve Junoon’, but instead of winning over listeners, the track has sparked a wave of criticism online.
Featuring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, the romantic track offers a glimpse into the emotionally-charged relationship between their characters.
The song also weaves in flashback sequences featuring Shriya Saran from the first ‘Awarapan’, connecting the sequel to the original film’s narrative.
While some fans praised its emotional tone, many social media users felt it lacked originality, with several comparing it to ‘Saiyaara’ and joking that it sounded like the song’s ‘first draft.’
Reacting to the song, one user commented, “Love the flashbacks to Shriya Saran.”
Another remarked, “Emraan Hashmi’s era of love songs is back.”
“The OG Emraan is back… old vibes ve Junoon,” expressed one user.
“This is the kind of song that slowly grows on you and ends up becoming your comfort song!! so excited for what’s next in Awarapan 2,” observed another.
Comparing the tune to ‘Saiyaara’ title track, one person wrote: “I was expecting something unbelievable keeping in mind the buzz but they disappointed. Seems like we are hearing #Saiyaara Song!”
“I can’t quite explain it, but almost every Bollywood film or song I watch now feels like I’ve already seen or heard it before feels strangely familiar,” said another.
“What is this? It sounds like saiyaara first draft,” noted someone.
