Barabati: The Indian cricket team will play South Africa in a five-match T20I series soon after the conclusion of the IPL 2022 season on May 29 and before flying to England for the pending 5th Test of the previous Test series and six limited-overs matches.
This series against South Africa will commence on June 9 and conclude on June 19.
According to Cricbuzz, the meeting of BBCI’s Apex Council of the BCCI on Wednesday decided that the matches will be held at five venues, instead of two as was the case during recent West Indies series which was played in Ahmedabad and Kolkata only, following a decline in COVID cases. The 5 venues – Cuttack, Vizag, Delhi, Rajkot, and Chennai, were also picked keeping in mind the weather conditions around that time.
Notably, Cuttack and Vizag had missed out on hosting matches in the Windies series due to the pandemic.
The report said that there may be slight rain for the first game in Cuttack and the second game in Vizag while Delhi, Rajkot, and Chennai will remain warm.
This series is a part of the the Future Tours Programme (FTP), a BCCI official said.
The barrage of T20s has been scheduled to help prepare for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
