Sambalpur: A 23-year-old youth suspected to be infected with Coronavirus (COVID-19) was admitted to VIMSAR, Burla, on Tuesday evening.
A native of Hemgiri in Sundargarh district, he had returned from South Korea on February 22.
He had visited the Hemgiri CHC in the morning, seeking treatment for mild fever and sore throat.
Suspecting Coronavirus infection, the CHC authorities informed Sundargarh Health Administration and he was shifted to VIMSAR.
He will be kept under observation for next seven days at the isolation ward and his samples will be sent outside the state for tests, a doctor at Department of Pulmonary Medicine of VIMSAR said.
Earlier, four suspected Coronavirus patients were admitted to the isolation ward of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. They were later discharged from the hospital after their test reports were found to be negative for the deadly virus, which has so far claimed 2,707 lives across the world.
