The withdrawal line of monsoon now passes through Kakinada, Ramagundam, Buldana, and Dahan.
According to MeT office, the monsoon is very likely to withdraw from the entire country in the next 48 hours.
“Conditions are very likely to become favourable for further withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from the entire the country during next 48 hours,” the agency tweeted.
Notably, the monsoon had withdrawn from Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack & Nayagarh districts and parts of Khurda, Puri, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Ganjam districts on Thursday.
On the other hand, the low-pressure area over the north Andaman Sea and its neighbourhood is expected to move west northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over the east-central and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 22 and into a deep depression the following day. The system is likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm over westcentral and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal by October 24. Thereafter, it is expected to move north-northeastwards and reach near West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts on October 25, skirting Odisha coast.
While Odisha may well be spared by this cyclone brewing in the Bay of Bengal, the state will receive heavy rainfall from Monday onwards under influence of this season’s second tropical storm. Heavy showers will continue from Monday to Wednesday, said IMD, Bhubaneswar, Director HR Biswas.
Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Cuttack and Khurda districts have been alerted for rainfall.
Adding to it, another cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the east-central Bay of Bengal from October 28 and November 3.
