Chennai: Celebrated singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who has been on ventilator for nearly two weeks after being infected with COVID-19, is stable and conscious now.
According to an Indian Express report, the singer recently communicated with his son Charan, using signs and gestures.
Charan shared a video message on Tuesday to inform fans that SPB is recovering and 90 per cent out of sedation.
Talking about SPB’s condition, MGM Healthcare Hospital director Dr Prashanth Rajagopalan said: “Although his lung has suffered some damage due to COVID, his other organs have remained perfect from the beginning. At this point of time, we are looking at lung recovery. This will happen over a period of time. His family has also been counselled recently regarding his condition.”
The singer was shifted to MGM Healthcare Hospital on August 5. After his condition worsened, he was moved to ICU on August 13 and then put on ventilator and life support.
He was put on ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support on August 19.
