Cuttack: Action has been recommended against the Officer In-Charge (OIC) of Baideswar Police Station in Odisha’s Cuttack district after photos of him allegedly assaulting two persons went viral on social media.
Sources said that Superintendent of Police, Cuttack Sadar, Prateek Singh has recommended strict action against OIC Priyadarshan Sethi after he learnt about the vital photos.
The viral pictures reportedly showed OIC Sethi allegedly pinning a man to the ground on Baideshwar T-Bridge with his foot on his back while speaking on phone. The pictures also showed the man’s motorcycle lying on the road, while another youth kneeled nearby.
The incident reportedly took place during a night patrol at the T-bridge by police from the Baideswar police station, where Sethi was functioning as the OIC.
As per information, a dispute cropped up after Sethi stopped two young men on a motorcycle. It was alleged that the OIC and another officer physically assaulted the two. It was further alleged that Sethi threatened one of the youths by brandishing a firearm from his pocket.
After photos of the incident went viral, OIC Sethi was transferred to the SP office. Subsequently, the decision to initiate action against him has been issued by the SP, the sources added.
