Spanish Woman, On Bike Tour Of Asia With Husband, Gangraped In Jharkhand

Ranchi: What happened in Jharkhand some hours ago will make every Indian’s head hang in shame.

A Spanish woman, touring the country on bike with her husband, was gangraped in Dumka late on Friday night.

Seven persons were involved in the crime which took place in Kurumahat, under jurisdiction of Hansdiha police station. Three of the accused have been arrested, while police are leaving in stone unturned to hunt down the others.

The biker couple was passing through the region in Jharkhand after having covered West Bengal, Dumka SP Pitambar Singh Khairwar told India Today. After nightfall, the couple set up a makeshift tent in Kunji village of Dumka.

Following a medical examination, the woman is under care and treatment at Saraiyahat Community Health Centre (CHC).

The Spanish couple, visiting India on tourist visas, are on a mega trip around Asia. They have already visited Pakistan and Bangladesh, with Nepal being their next destination, via Bihar’s Bhagalpur.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) team has been constituted to probe the deplorable incident, and forensic experts have been roped in.
