Bhubaneswar: A speeding car with a UP registration number allegedly hit a woman and then dashed against a scooter, dragging it for over 2 km, in Patia area of Odisha capital on Wednesday evening.
According to sources, people ran helter-skelter on seeing the car, dragging the two-wheeler along with spark flying off it. Some even chased it but the man at the wheels drove on with the scooter stuck beneath it supposedly oblivious of the attempts by other commuters to stop the vehicle.
While the woman sustained injuries and was hospitalised, the scooter owner, a senior citizen, was lucky as he was not riding the two-wheeler at the time of the accident, a video of which has gone viral.
An officer of Info City police station identified the accused car driver as a resident of Patia area. He has been detained for questioning and his car has been seized. He was allegedly driving in an inebriated state last evening.
