Bhubaneswar: With dengue cases showing little sign of decline, a special dengue testing counter has been opened at the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
Giving this information, Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra said the special testing counter for dengue became operational at the Capital Hospital on Sunday in view of the surge in the vector-borne disease.
In addition to the testing centre at the Capital Hospital, two more testing centers will start functioning from Patia CHC and IRC Village Urban PHC from Monday, he said.
This apart, an additional 10 beds for dengue patients have been arranged at BMC hospital, Unit IV hospital, Patia Urban CHC and Dumduma Urban CHC in order to reduce congestion at the Capital Hospital.
People residing in these localities and adjoining areas should visit these hospitals. Only in worst case, they can visit the Capital Hospital, he said.
Stating that the dengue situation in the state is in a plateau state at present, Dr Mishra said around 120 to 130 dengue patients are testing positive on a daily basis in the state. Similarly, around 60 to 70 new cases are being detected daily in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, 2,943 patients were tested positive for dengue by August 25. Of them, Khurda district recorded the highest number of 1,369 cases, followed by Puri (308), Balasore (276), Cuttack (208), Jagatsinghpur (169) and Nayagarh (103). State capital Bhubaneswar accounted for most of the cases in Khurda district.
