Bhubaneswar: As the special drive to check underage driving continued for second consecutive day in Odisha, challans were issued against 180 minors and 78 vehicles seized on Tuesday.
The State Transport Authority (STA), Odisha had launched the special drive against driving of vehicles by minors on Monday. As part of this drive, officials of all the 38 Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) are inspecting the vehicles at major traffic junctions and locations near schools and colleges of different cities and towns.
According to STA sources, out of the total 180 challans issued on Tuesday, 11 challans were issued by the Rourkela RTO, 16 challans by Bhubaneswar-I RTO, 16 by the Cuttack RTO and 10 challans by the Kalahandi RTO.
While eleven vehicles, were seized by the Rourkela RTO, seven vehicles were sized in Chandikhole, the sources said, adding that Angul, Balangir, and Rayagada RTOs seized 6 vehicles each during the special drive against underage driving,
With this seizure, a total of 138 vehicles have been seized while 334 challans have been issued in two days.
The drive against the underage driving in the state will continue, STA officials said.
