Bhubaneswar: A Special Handloom Expo-2022 will kick off at Ekamra Haat in Bhubaneswar on Sunday showcasing a wide range of magical hand-woven artistry and exquisite creations of craftsmen.
Organised by Sambalpuri Bastralaya and Handloom Cooperative Society Ltd, the expo will be inaugurated by Principal Secretary of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts department, Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee at Ekamra Haat in Unit-III of the capital city on Sunday evening.
Special Secretary, Industries department and Director of Textiles and Handlooms, Shovan Kumar Sahu and other senior officials are slated to attend the inaugural ceremony.
The event, sponsored by the Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts department and Directorate of Textiles & Handlooms, is scheduled to continue till December 14. It will be open to public from 11 AM to 9 PM, according to official sources.
A number of stalls are being erected for the artisans and crafts persons from different parts of the state to showcase their products.
Sources said the Special Handloom Expo-2022 is being organised to boost up the sales and provide regular employment to the weaver members of the PWCS and SHGs.
