Bhubaneswar: As part of efforts to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident during the celebrations of Holi festival on Tuesday, the Commissionerate Police have made elaborate security arrangements in Odisha capital.
While special measures have been taken to ensure communal harmony and contain the menace of anti-social elements, over 15 platoons of police force will be deployed across the city for the safety of people and smooth celebrations of the festival. A close vigil will also be maintained at bathing ghats to prevent any mishap.
Apart from patrolling and force deployment, static posts will be set up at 31 locations to check nuisance in public places and roads. Similarly, 17 extra mobile patrolling vehicles apart from PCR vans will be deployed. Additional staff will be provided to the control room for surveillance and coordination during Holi festival, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said.
Stating that strict surveillance will be maintained through CCTV cameras, he said prompt action will be taken if any untoward incident comes to notice.
The police are already adopting zero tolerance towards drunken driving which will continue during Holi festival, the DCP said.
This apart, hotels, clubs and other institutions have been asked to take necessary permission for organising any parties as the model code of conduct for the elections is in force.
A special team headed by a DSP rank officer and experts from the Pollution Control Board has also been formed to inspect shops to check colour adulteration, sources said.
