Cuttack: The state government along with Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is drawing up a new strategy to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the municipal area.
Following a high-level review meeting attended by COVID-19 observer Saurabh Garg on Saturday, CMC Commissioner Ananya Das said the number of testing, treatment at COVID hospitals, monitoring the asymptomatic patients and movement of people in market places will be focus areas of the new strategy.
She said steps will be taken to increase the present daily average of 700 tests.
Stating that a system is already in place to monitor asymptomatic patients in home isolation, she said, “We have requested SCB officials to create a pool of doctors including gynaecologists and nephrologists to provide required treatment to COVID-19 positive patients.”
Garg said since the government has already deputed 20 post-graduate doctors for district, the requirement of doctors and lab technicians were discussed at the meeting.
“The people’s movement from and to the district will be restricted. Similarly, the treatment at COVID Care Centres and COVID hospitals by SCB doctors will be emphasised,” said district collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani.
