Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: While the number of local contact cases of COVID-19 is gradually picking up in Odisha raising the apprehension of community transmission, panic has gripped the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack with nine local contact cases cropping up.
Of the 13 positive cases reported in Bhubaneswar on Friday, six are caused by local contact. Of the six cases, one belongs to Salia Sahi, the biggest slum in the city. The locals apprehend that this may lead to a spike in the local contact cases like the Dharavi slum in Mumbai.
Apart from Bhubaneswar, three local contact cases have also been detected in Cuttack.
With 173 more COVID positive cases detected across the state on Saturday, the rise in the number of local contact cases has gone up to 122 between May 15 and June 6.
While 27 local contact cases have been detected between May 15 and 30, similar 95 cases were recorded between May 31 and June 6.
