Bhubaneswar: Two persons were severely injured when the car in which they were travelling crashed into a traffic post at Damana Square in Bhubaneswar late on Monday.
According to sources, the accident took place around midnight when driver of the speeding hatchback lost control over the vehicle and rammed the traffic post, swerved onto a divider and came to halt after hitting a pole while travelling from Kelucharan Park towards Damana Square. Such was the severity of the collision that the traffic post got uprooted and fell about 20 feet away from the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses claimed both the youth behind the wheel and the woman inside the car were drunk.
On being informed, police reached the spot and rushed the injured duo to hospital. The vehicle has been seized and further investigation is underway.
