Mumbai: The Mumbai Airports Customs officials seized 240 gram gold chain from a woman passenger, who arrived from Dubai on Wednesday, the ANI reported quoting officials.
The Indian national, travelling via Spicejet Flight SG 14, had cleverly concealed the gold worth Rs 16 lakh in her sandals.
According to reports, this is the second incident in past three days. On March 15 and 16, the customs had seized over 2.66 kg of gold valued at Rs 1.46 crore and various electronic goods. While gold bars were found hidden in an ear-pods case of a passenger, who landed in Mumbai from Riyadh, gold dust in wax form weighing 820 gram was found concealed in the inner garments worn by another passenger travelling from Singapore.
In January, gold valued at Rs 50 lakh concealed in bottles of mayonnaise was seized from a passenger, travelling from Kuwait.
