Bhubaneswar:  Private airliner SpiceJet on Thursday revised its schedule for daily direct flights from New Delhi to the Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda and vice-versa.

Under the revised schedule, the flight will leave New Delhi at 1.50pm and reach VSS Airport at 3.50pm. In its return journey, the flight will leave VSS Airport at 4.25pm and reach New Delhi at 6.25pm.

The airline has announced an introductory promotional fare of Rs 3,701 each for the Delhi-Jharsuguda and Jharsuguda-Delhi flights.

The flight is part of Government of India’s Regional Connectivity Scheme called UDAN, which is beginning from March 31. SpiceJet will deploy Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the Jharsuguda-Delhi-Jharsuguda sector and Bombardier Q400 on the other two UDAN sectors of Jharsuguda-Hyderabad-Jharsuguda and Jharsuguda-Kolkata-Jharsuguda.

With the new flights, passengers from Jharsuguda can now easily travel to a host of cities on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via multiple onward connections from key metros.

VSS Airport in Jharsuguda is the second largest in Odisha and the only one after Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar that can handle civil commercial operations.
