Jharsuguda: In a setback for air passengers in Odisha, SpiceJet has decided to discontinue its Delhi-Jharsuguda flight on Mondays.
The development came to light after the airline responded to a passenger’s tweet, citing “schedule change” as the reason for withdrawing the service on Mondays.
It also informed that the service will remain cancelled on Mondays till September 30.
Schedule change is not uncommon in the airline industry, but what has riled flyers is that curtailment of the Jharsuguda-Delhi service defies all sense, especially when the flight’s load capacity was over 70-80 per cent on any given day of the week.
Reaction of the airline is awaited.
SpiceJet was the first to introduce daily service from the city to Delhi on March 31. The airport was made operational under the UDAN scheme of the government.
During the first quarter of this financial year, the airport had handled over 43,000 passengers.
