Rourkela: Considering the rising cases of COVID-19 in Rourkela city and its adjoining areas, Sundargarh district administration has increased the number of ICU beds by roping in two more hospitals.
The administration, with permission from the state government, has set up 60 ICU beds in Jay Prakash Hospital and 30 beds in Shanti Memorial Hospital.
Besides, the district authorities have directed the hospitals having more than 30 beds in the city to reserve 50% of beds for COVID-19 patients. The hospitals have also been told to keep 80% of beds in ICU ready for such patients.
The Hi-Tech Hospital already has the facility of 200 beds for COVID-19 patients at present.
The COVID-19 patients referred by the authorised health authorities to the Jay Prakash Hospital and Shanti Memorial Hospital need not pay any fees for the treatment. Those not referred by the authorities have to pay the fees as stipulated by the state government.
The administration has warned of stern action, if any hospital will be found violating the government directions in this regard.
