Puri: The spiritual soul of India, the Rig Veda, and poetry have been intertwined since the ancient times, according to Hriday Narayan Dikshit, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker.
“India is itself poetry. Rig Veda is the ancient poetry of the world. It’s the source of poetry, the Super Soul,” Dikshit said after inaugurating the ‘Spiritual Poetry’ session of the World Congress of Poets (WCP) in Puri on Saturday.
“Spiritual poetry is the connection between mortal and immortal, Brahma and Param Brahma. Where there is poetry, there is God. Our spiritual poetry is the guiding force to our life,” he added.
Drawing parallels between Odisha and Northern India, he said, “Odisha is so beautiful in all respects like Northern India. Every state of India, language, culture and tradition all are poetry.”
In his talk titled ‘What does Poetry Make?’, Prof Dilip Naik from the English & Foreign Language University, Hyderabad delved upon this complex question with inferences from writings of some of the greatest poets of all times. “Poetry enables us to trust in the grace of existence,” he expounded.
Among others, Dr Maurus Young, President, WCP; Prof Ernesto Kahan, First Vice President, World Academy of Art & culture; Dr Maria Eugenia Soberanis, General Secretary, World Academy of Arts & culture and Eminent writer and poet Dr Prasanna Kumar Patasani were present on the occasion.
