Tensa (Sundargarh): Senior citizens inhabiting villages in the inaccessible terrains of Tensa in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, were vaccinated against COVID-19 by Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL).
A total of 143 elderly persons of the peripheral villages in a special drive, at TRB Iron Ore Mines in association with the district administration.
The beneficiaries of Bandal, Raikela, Dengula, Tensa, Zero Point and Bahama villages above the age of 60 were administered second dose vaccine. Transportation of the elderly people from their homes to the vaccination centre was also arranged.
“Since we are living in inaccessible terrains of this hilly region, it becomes extremely difficult for us to reach the distantly located vaccination centre. In the absence of transportation, we were finding it difficult to move out but JSPL has helped by arranging the vaccination for us,” said Manu Oram of Bandal village.
Business Head of TRB Iron Ore mines, Pramod Kumar Patra said, “Since Community Health is our top priority, we want 100 per cent vaccination in all our operational villages. In the coming days, we will extend all support to the district administration to maximise immunisation”.
