New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu enjoyed a game of badminton with one of India’s leading shuttlers Saina Nehwal on Wednesday.
Attired in white salwar-kurta and wearing sports shoes, Murmu faced the former world No. 1 at the badminton court in Rashtrapati Bhavan, watched by dozens of staff members and others.
“President Droupadi Murmu’s natural love for sports and games was seen when she played badminton with the much-celebrated player Ms Saina Nehwal at the Badminton Court in Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President’s inspiring step is in keeping with India’s emergence as a badminton-power house, with women players making a great impact on the world stage,” the official X account of Rashtrapati Bhavan posted on X.
Saina, India’s first Olympic medallist in badminton, will deliver a talk and interact with the audience at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre on Thursday as part of the ‘Her Story – My Story’ lecture series featuring female Padma Awardees, informed Rashtrapati Bhavan.
