Mumbai: Online music streaming service Spotify has finally been launched in India. It will be available as a free ad-supported service as well as a paid plan. Spotify will have music in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
Premium plans start at Rs 13 a day and go up to Rs 1,189 a year. The price for a week-long subscription is Rs 39, monthly one Rs 129, three-month pack Rs 389 and 6-month pack Rs 719.
Premium subscription plans will give access to high quality 320 KBPS streaming and downloading capability. The free account also gives access to the full library, albeit with ads.
Spotify uses artificial intelligence to curate city-based playlists and recommendations based on listening preferences. It will be available on Android, iOS, Windows 10 PCs, macOS computing devices, Android TV, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox and also via web browsers. Spotify is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Spotify will face competition from Gaana, JioSaavn, Airtel Wynk, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
