Angul: In continuation of drive against spurious products, police on Sunday arrested one person and seized harmful food materials from his unit in a village of the district.
According to sources, on a tip-off that Premananda Sahu of Talamula village was manufacturing and marketing spurious food products, the police collected some samples from his house on January 17 and sent those to laboratory for test.
After the lab test report confirmed that the products were spurious and injurious to health on January 29, the police conducted a raid on the mill of Sahu. During the raid, they seized 60 kg of flour, 7 kg of turmeric and empty polythene packets of different reputed brands.
Police have sealed the mill, arrested Sahu and forwarded him to court.
It may be noted that the police had arrested 5 persons during a raid on a unit manufacturing spurious palmolein oil two days back.
