Paradip: A pigeon fitted with a camera and a chip was caught from a fishing boat off the Paradip coast of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Wednesday.
A tag with something written in a foreign language was found fixed on its wings. The pigeon has been handed over to the Marine police station. Meanwhile, police have started an investigation.
According to sources, fishermen of a boat named Sarathi spotted a pigeon with a small camera and a chip fitted on its leg perching on the vessel. They informed the Marine police station in this regard.
Later, police personnel reached the spot and took the bird with them. It is suspected that the bird was being used for spying purpose.
Jagathsinghur SP Rahul PR has confirmed about the report of the pigeon being captured from the trawler.
It was stated that the camera, chip and the tag will be sent to the state forensic laboratory to confirm if the camera fitted on its leg was meant for spying and its origin. Investigation is underway and further details are awaited.
