New Delhi: Netflix series Squid Game has earned praise from the entire world, barring the Pakistanis. People across the border are complaining as to why always an Indian actor gets to essay the role of a Pakistani character.
Anupam Tripathi, the Indian actor who essayed the character of Ali Abdul, an undocumented Pakistani migrant worker in South Korea, has earned praise for being the “gentle, kind & loyal player” in the series.
Pakistanis, however, say they are tired of filmmakers hiring Indians to play their roles.
“It’s so frustrating to see Pakistani characters in big TV series being played by Indian actors. Why can’t these productions cast original Pakistani actors for such roles?” wrote a Twitter user admitting the show is good.
One user pointed out how it was the same in Money Heist, in which Indian actor Ajay Jethi played the character of a Pakistani hacker called Shakir, while another user said how Tripathi isn’t even a Muslim in real life.
