Bhubaneswar: A senior assistant-cum-accountant of watershed project was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance sleuths in Kalahandi on Thursday for allegedly accepting Rs 60,000 bribe from a soil conservation worker to process his pending bills for release of payment.
Acting on a complaint, a team of Vigilance officials laid a trap and caught senior assistant Shyam Sundar Bal while demanding and accepting bribe Rs 60,000 from the soil conservation worker, a Vigilance release said.
He had allegedly demanded the money for processing the pending bills for release of payment as well as payment made earlier towards the old bills.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being carried out at 4 locations of Bal from disproportionate assets angle.
A case has been registered and investigation is in progress against the accused.
