Jharsuguda: A Senior Clerk in the office of a Block Education Officer (BEO) was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance sleuths in Jharsuguda district for allegedly taking Rs 5,000 bribe to release the arrear bill of a teacher towards maternity leave.
The accused was identified as Saroj Kanta Nayak, Senior Clerk at BEO’s office in Kirimira.
Nayak was apprehended while demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 from a complainant for facilitating release of the arrear bill of his spouse, an assistant teacher towards maternity leave, a Vigilance release said.
The entire bribe amount has been recovered from the accused and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Nayak from Disproportionate Assets angle.
A case has been registered and investigation is in progress. Detailed report is awaited.
