Bhubaneswar: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) on Thursday issued an advisory to 4 districts in the state which are likely to face heatwave for three days.
The SRC in a message to collectors of four districts said India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for their areas. “As per the release issued by IMD, heatwave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places in Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Boudh and Kalahandi district from March 31 to April 2,” the SRC said.
Considering the likely heatwave, the SRC advised the collectors to take steps to circulate the warning message among the public. Heat may be tolerable for general public but pose health concern for vulnerable people including infant, elderly and sick, the message said.
People may be advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during noon time from 11 am to 3.30 pm in these areas, the SRC said adding that the situation may be closely monitored and action as deemed necessary be taken.
