One of the world’s largest natural resources company, Vedanta Resources Plc. has announced appointment of Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan as the chief executive officer (CEO) and a member of the board of directors, effective August 31, 2018.
Venkatakrishnan is currently the CEO of AngloGold Ashanti, a position he has held since 2013 after serving as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for eight years. Given his vast experience in a wide array of global corporate roles and a strong track record of managing a complex portfolio of operating assets and projects in Africa, his focus will be on ensuring operational efficiency and fiscal growth of the Vedanta group.
Vedanta Resources Chairman Mr Anil Agarwal, said “Venkat is a widely respected business leader in the global resources space, who brings to Vedanta an impressive set of values and a wealth of experience in corporate and other roles in the UK, Africa, Australia, South America and India.”
Venkatakrishnan, 53, is a qualified Chartered Accountant who holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Madras. He is slated to replace Kuldip Kaura, the current interim CEO.
