New Delhi: Reacting to Shah Rukh Khan’s tweet in favour of the new Parliament building, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Sunday said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Maharashtra will not call for a ban on the superstar’s films now. SRK not just expressed happiness over the inauguration of the new Parliament building but also provided voice-overs for the video after Prime Minister Modi’s request.
Reacting to SRK’s tweet, NCP spokesperson Clyde Crasto said, “Now that Shahrukh Khan has spoken in favour of the New Parliament building, we will soon see BJP Maharashtra leaders genuflecting in front of him and not calling for a ban on his films.”
He also asked SRK and Akshay Kumar to show their support to wrestlers who are protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the arrest of their federation chief over sexual harassment allegations.
“SRK and Akshay Kumar tweeted and spoke about the New Parliament building. Both acted in films based on sports and earned fame and fortune. What is stopping them from tweeting and showing support to our wrestlers who are fighting for justice? What or who are they afraid of?” tweeted Crasto.
Both SRK and Akshay Kumar expressed their thoughts on the new Parliament building with their voice-overs. PM Narendra Modi retweeted their posts. Notably, the PM had on May 26 shared the original video and made a “special request” to people to share it with their voice-overs.
