Cuttack: A Shreya Ghoshal concert will always draw mammoth crowds, anywhere in India. It was no different at Cuttack on Thursday evening.
The entire Cuttack, and neighbouring Bhubaneswar seemed to have converged at the Bali Jatra to attend the concert of much-loved singing queen Shreya.
A stampede-like situation developed on the last day of Bali Jatra trade fair, where at least two people were injured.
Police set up several barricades to control the crowd, but a large group of people reportedly broke through in an effort to reach close to the stage soon after the Bollywood singer arrived at the venue. The chaotic situation resulted in some people falling on the ground.
According to eyewitnesses, two persons fell unconscious and were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
Thankfully, there have been no reports of any fatality or serious injuries till now.
Security and police deployment was bolstered near the stage.
Senior police officials, including twin city Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh, reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
