Cuttack: A string of singers from Bollywood to Ollywood will perform at this year’s Bali Jatra in Odisha’s Cuttack and pump up the excitement level among visitors, who are witnessing the mega annual event after two years of COVID restrictions.
According to sources, Kailash Kher, Javed Ali, and Krishna Beura from Bollywood while Sheetal Patra, Kuldeep Patnaik, Tilak Chakraborty, Diptirekha Padhi, Asima Panda, Bishnu Mohan Kabi, Human Sagar, Mantu Chhuria, Sabyasachi Mishra, Archita Sahu, Pankaj Jal and Abhijit Mishra from Odia cine industry are preparing to hit the stage.
The Bali Jatra will also see a performance by rock band ‘Vighnanz’ and a Kathak dance group. The District Cultural Council of Cuttack will be hosting the singers throughout the nine-day event.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Bali Jatra began on November 8 at Gadagadia Ghat on Mahanadi river banks with Information and Public Relations Minister Pradeep Amat inaugurating the event, which saw a footfall of more than six lakh on Day 1.
Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Jagatsinghpur MP Rajashree Mallick, and Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain were also present at the inauguration function.
“A stretch of 1 km has been elevated with grass and sand. The area was landscaped where visitors can sit and enjoy a view of Mahanadi,” TOI reported Cuttack collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani as saying.
This time, more than 600 food stalls, 325 government stalls and 200 corporate stalls have been put up at the Bali Jatra ground. Besides, there are around 400 stalls at the Pallishree Mela spread over 5 acre. The administration has also made arrangements for a laser show, which is an added attraction this year.
