Cuttack: The 65th State Athletics Championships got underway at Barabati
Stadium here on Thursday.
Inaugurating the three-day event, organised by the Odisha Athletics
Association, Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera said, “The
championship aims at promotion of sports and games in the state by
providing opportunities to young players to learn and showcase
their talents, besides encouraging sportsmanship.”
The sports event will also provide an opportunity to the participants
to become national level athletes, Behera added.
The event will witness participation of 1,451 athletes
from different parts of the state.
