Bhubaneswar: The state-level Sishu Mahotsav 2024, ‘Suravi’, took off on the premises of Capital High School in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the three-day children’s festival, Nityananda Gond, Minister of School and Mass Education, said, “Viksit Odisha, Viksit Bharat needs to be improved at the grassroots level. If art survives, the country will survive. The state government has emphasised this. We have drawn up several plans for preservation and propagation of folk art of Odisha and this festival is an important step in this direction.”
Advising the students to work hard towards fulfilling their dreams, he said each of them has some special talent. “Let them recognise the talent or potential within themselves. Learn new things, ask questions and always try to embrace innovation,” he advised.
Addressing the students, Bhubaneswar mayor Sulochana Das said a medium is needed to develop the talent of the students and a big medium like ‘Suravi’ will help develop their talent.
Secretary Shalini Pandit said today’s child is the best guide to the future. In this direction, the government and the department are making great efforts. Survi is a beautiful attempt to reveal the qualities of children, she added.
