Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has set a target to complete the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project by December, 2027.
This was revealed at a meeting of the State-level Project Monitoring Committee on the first phase of the Metro Rail project, held in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
According to a press release of the Information and Public Relations department, the meeting, chaired by chief secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena, discussed funds, technical specifications, station plans at various locations, platform arrangements and other specifications.
The processing of tenders for land planning, structural arrangements, civil works and relocation of various utilities have been targeted to be completed in 6-8 months.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has signed an agreement with the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation to implement the project as a turn-key consultant. The government has planned the metro rail services from Biju Patnaik International Airport to Trishulia.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone for the project in January. 2024.
Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of Housing and Urban Development department G Mathivathanan, Principal Secretary of Finance department Vishal Kumar Dev, Special Secretary of Commerce and Transport department Manoj Kumar Mishra (Railway Corporation) and other members of the committee were present.
