Bhubaneswar: A state-level woman athlete was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a private hostel near the old office of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) here on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Sarojini Sundar, a resident of Jagadalapur village under Delang tehsil in Puri district.
According to sources, Sarojini, who was a state-level boxing and kho-kho player, was found hanging in the rented accommodation this morning. She had been residing in Bhubaneswar for the last few years and working at a bike showroom on Cuttack Road.
Badagada police have seized the body and sent it to Capital Hospital for postmortem. Her call records are being examined and her friends are also being questioned to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death, said a police officer.
Sarojini’s family members, who have arrived in Bhubaneswar, claimed that she had no enmity with anyone.
